This little black toenail has been around for a few weeks now. There is also a 'won't go away' blood blister on the tip of the toe and also the third toe tip next to it. All other toes are fine and it doesn't really hurt or affect my running --slow no matter what.
Spot's dad kissing my toe has not made it any better, but I included the book under my foot so it would show up better in the photo.
I wear running socks and use the running size and width recommended by my running store Runner's Den. and like I said, all other toes and the entire other foot are fine. no worries right?
I'd love to hear your theories and recommendations...
Tomorrow I'm going out for my seven miler and I'm going to work in some hills around North Arcadia. The San Diego RnR marathon has a 300 foot hill over three miles in Balboa, and I want to be ready.
Let me know what you think about this toe thing. Issue or non-issue????

I have some bright pink nail polish that'll clear that right up. If it doesn't hurt, doesn't sound like a problem to me. Good luck on the hills!
Congrats on your hard earned black toenail! If it doesn't hurt, it's doing fine- just leave it alone.
If you decide against the bright pink nail polish, I have some black nail polish that you can use on the other toenails, so they'll match. :)
Unfortunately, I have no nail polish that I have to offer (that i'll admit to anyway)
I've always heard that people with a longer 2nd toe are much more apt to get those things. I, knock on wood, have never had one. But, you have the iron nipples and I have the iron toes. Give and take I suppose.
Well you probably don't want to hear what I'm going to say but I had black toenails - one on each foot, due to running (unbeknownst to me) in shoes too small. Ended up having both those toenails fall off (painless). Now the new toenails underneath are thin, but otherwise just fine. So that's my story. :-) not what you want to hear with flip-flop and sandal season coming up, i'm sure.
Black toe nails are the badge of honor for running. Wear it proudly!
Found your blog through Lauren's and Adam's (not that they know me or anything). Your toe gives me the creeps. Thought I would throw that out there.
